Support Assist Uninstallation- Bad Pool Caller

This error is usually caused by a corrupted application:  DELL SupportAssist
Please follow below to troubleshoot/resolve the issue


Uninstalling the faulty application

To uninstall a device by using Control Panel, follow these steps:

  1. Start Control Panel and then click Programs.
  2. Under Programs and Features select Uninstall a program.
  3. Select Dell SupportAssist, right-click it and select Uninstall
  4. Once complete, restart your computer
  5. Proceed to “Verifying the application is uninstalled

If the system is not staying responsive long enough to complete (bluescreening prior to complete uninstall), please follow these steps:

Before you enter safe mode, you need to enter the Windows Recovery Environment (winRE). To do this, you will repeatedly turn your device off, then on:

  1. Hold down the power button for 10 seconds to turn off your device.
  2. Press the power button again to turn on your device.
  3. On the first sign that Windows has started (for example, some devices show the manufacturer’s logo when restarting) hold down the power button for 10 seconds to turn off your device.
  4. Press the power button again to turn on your device.
  5. When Windows restarts, hold down the power button for 10 seconds to turn off your device.
  6. Press the power button again to turn on your device.
  7. Allow your device to fully restart. You will enter winRE.

Now that you are in winRE, you will follow these steps to take you to safe mode:

On the Choose an option screen, select TroubleshootAdvanced options > Startup Settings > Restart.

  1. After your device restarts, you’ll see a list of options. Select option 5 from the list or press F5 for Safe Mode with Networking.

Verifying application is uninstalled

When the system has completed rebooting, log back into Windows and verify the application was removed.

  1. Start Control Panel and then click Programs.
  2. Under Programs and Features, verify Dell SupportAssist is no longer listed.

If removing Support Assist does not resolve your problem, click here for instructions to reset your computer.
