New number feature in MFA (multifactor authentication) using Microsoft Authenticator.

The MFA process will now use a matching number to authenticate users.

When a user responds to an MFA push notification using Microsoft Authenticator, they will be presented with a number. This feature greatly reduces the likelihood of a user accidentally approving a request from a malicious actor (since the user and malicious actor would have different per-request two digit codes displayed). They will need to type the number shown on their PC into the prompt in the application and confirm it is them to complete the approval. If a user receives a prompt that is not them they should select “No it’s not me”

If you are attempting to access an application from your mobile device, you will find that the number is hidden behind the notification. You can select “I can’t see the number” and it will temporarily hide the window and show you the number.
